Kentucky Derby Tickets
Because demand for seats at the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks far outweigh seating capacity at the racecourse, Churchill Downs uses a loyalty system – long-standing members of its Twin Spires Club and supporters of the course are invited to purchase Kentucky Derby tickets. A set number of Grandstand tickets are reserved for the general public, although these sell out very fast.
For 2009, Churchill Downs has frozen the ticket prices given the global financial crisis, this means that many of the ticket prices will remain at 2008 prices.
General Admissions tickets, which are for standing room only and provide access to the Paddock and Infield areas, are available to the public on the days of the races. General admission for the Kentucky Oaks costs $25.00, and general admission for the Kentucky Derby costs $40.00 per person. Children under 12 who are accompanied by an adult are admitted free.
