Doug O’Neill trained two runners in the 2007 Kentucky Derby – Great Hunter, who came in 13th, and Liquidity, who followed hot on Great Hunter’s heels to place 14th. 2007 was the first time he participated in the Kentucky Derby.

Among the top horses trained by Doug O’Neill are Stevie Wonderboy, Fleetstreet Dancer, Lava Man and Great Hunter. O’Neill has had two Breeder Cup wins, taking the 2005 Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and the 2006 Breeders’ Cup Sprint.

In 2002, the California Thoroughbred Breeders’ Association awarded Doug O’Neill the Trainer of the Year title. Since 2008, O’Neill has earned over $4,939,245 in prize money.
